slightly disappointed

First off, I have no idea how many people actually read this forum, but I'll give it a try...

BGDAII is fun, and there are many things about the game I think have been done way better than many other rpg's before it. However, there are two HUGE (imho) drawbacks to the game that really bring it down.
First of all I think the game is waaayy too linear. Rpg's are supposed to give you the freedom to explore a world for hours, while at the same time slowly advancing a main plot. In DA it's just straight forward from start to go, with very little chance to spice things up... Sad...
Secondly, the game is simply too short! I'm almost done, & I feel like I've barely started. There's just one city (BG), and even that is tiny, with just a couple of places to go and only one trader. Compared to a game like Morrowind it pales in insignificance...

Anyway, that was my 2 (more like 19) cents...

BGDA2 isnt realy a rollplaying game. It's an action RPG like Diablo.
If you keep that in mind the game is great.

I dont think it's to short, you can replay at extreme mode. And you can choose another character to play with. (and 2 secret characters).

Isn't the term CRPG. Personally I felt that Dark Alliance 2 reeks of Diablo II down to the gem and socketed items. DAII is still a good game, though probably not scoring much in the way of originality.

I agree, the game is short. But, that gives it more of a replay value being that short. I know that I do not replay any of the 80+ hour games. And half of the time i get 40 or 50 hours into the game and then get bored. So for me, i dont mind the short games.

The game is definately too short, as was BGA. And as was mentioned previously it indee does wreak of diablo 2. The linear aspect comes with the genre of action rpg. It's just an action game, which are traditionally linear, with RPG elements that give it minimal depth. My basic qualms about this game is the fact that the engine went virtually unchanged from BGA to BGAII to FO:BoS. And that was mildly annoying. You're basically playing the same exact game but in a different setting and in the case of FO:BoS different armour and weapons, not to mention a lot of vulgar language. I think Champions of Norrath is the best game to come out of this engine because it takes quite a while to play through unlike the BGA games. And also the special hidden characters suck because they don't really get any better gear that what they come with, so they get old fast.
