Please Help!!

Greetings all. My wife and I have taken the ruby to the boat only to find out our navigator guy isn't with us anymore. Assuming the docks are east of town, we found the navigator on the south side of town following the ramps to the lower ground level. We can't seem to find a way to get the navigator to the boat. We can't find any direct path to the boat from the main town area where we are, and any attempts to gate or portal hasn't worked because the navigator remains where we portal from in town. We couldn't get him to follow us to any levels, it seems he is in the town main area without any hope of getting him to the boat. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Bunches !! (Town main area to us is any part of town that the merchant can be accessed from)

I saw this on another board

And I experimented with something like this myself.

Let me guess, you rescued the Navigator BEFORE you got the ruby. This displays another flaw in the game.

What happens is that once you rescue the navigator, he will be on the part of town where you can't get to the merchant (exit from Vanderhost's castle). From there you can get to the boat builder. If you do not have the ruby at this time you have to use gate scrolls to get to the part of town with the merchant. I say "scrolls" because if you use a scroll from there, it will take you to where you last scrolled from, then you use a second scroll to get back to town.

The ruby is obtained from the original gnome you talked to at his house. His house is the opposite direction of the Portal, on the way to the lava fields.

Once you are on the merchant side of town, you can only get back to the other side by using the portal to go into the castle again. The problem is that the navigator will not come with you into the castle and when you get back to the correct side of town to get to the boat builder (boy do I wish my memory was better with names) the navigator is not there and you can not go.

There is no way to get the navigator back to the correct dock in this situation. I heard that a guy tried to take the navigator through the castle via the lava fields and it didn't work. I didn't try this.

I hope you have a save from before you rescued the navigator. If so, go to town, get the the ruby, then rescue the navigator.

I am afraid you will be starting over otherwise. Let me know if you find anything I said is wrong. If you find a way to get it to work, post it and I'll pass it on to the other message board I read.

This idea worked :)

Just before bed I went to turn off the PS2. Didn't get a responce and figured I'd give it one last chance. Controlling my wifes Wood Elf with my right toe, I took the navigator to the dock at the entrance to act 2. Took him all the way out and closest to the side nearest the boat. I then scrolled back to the exit of the vampire(only thing that finally payed off, seeing how we traveled through many area's trying to figure out where we left the navigator. Didn't take long to discover that we would be well off leaving a scroll at that spot hehe). Made our way to the boat and talked to the guy hoping that with the navigator right next door it would work. Didn't work ... By this time I'm giving up but decided to take a look, turning camera angles, walking down the dock trying to get a glimpse of the navigator on the next screen. Next thing I knew at the dock entrance. I see the little guy walking around the rocks just on the other side of the ropes to the boat dock...excited, I run to meet him and there he is, winding his way to where we are. Took another shot at the boat master and finally saved our game in act 3 Woo Hoo, cut me some slack, I just woke up, but thanks for the advise, appreciate the help What's weird though is the fact that there is no passage between these two area's. there is no way we could have moved from these to points on foot.
