I don't have a really good reason to hate Diablo, I just did when I was mainly a FPS fan in '96 and my wife bought it for me, and I have tried a couple of times since and just still can't stand it. It is one of those 'bad taste in your mouth' things - I just can't get past it ...

I did decide to try Diablo II, though ... got the 'battle chest' on eBay for cheap (now I'll have *3* copies of Diablo - PC, Mac/PC and this one ...)

Not sure yet ... when I say I got it I meant I bought it this week - it hasn't arrived yet.

I couldn't play the first Diablo, it was so slow and tedious. I've always loved D2 though, even more when LoD was released.

I my opinion, you don't need to dry Diablo if you have played Diablo 2. In fact, I'd be surprised if you can stand it!

oh, certainly. I got a copy of diablo after I had had diablo2 for a while, and it was dated, slow, confusing, ugly and unrewarding. and yet I'm still playing diablo2 (I've just come out of a game, in fact. my necro's just got to nightmare difficulty. broadband and a decent computer have got me into it again)

I grabbed Diablo when it was first released...great fun at that time. Diablo II is an improvement in every way. Despite having played it when it was first released, it is clunky compared to II. Even I can't stand to play it now.

I think I'd have to say that my favorite part about Diablo 2 is the hoardric cube. I just luv combinig jewels to make perfect ones and making full rejuvenation potions. I also luv the sound that the skull makes when you click on it.

I currently have Sacred and Dungeon Lords. I might get Titan Quest and Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. I also don't like the Diablo series that much, since it's more about getting gear than playing the game for enjoyment.

hehe, that is the first time I clicked on this. Guess, added another point.
I usually buy and play any decent Diablo clone I can lay my hooves on. The original Diablo was OK when it was first released. I suppose the "randomly generated levels" feature played a major role. I loved D2. I think Titan Quest was one of the best clones.
Hm, who knows, maybe people really expect a list of diablo clones when they read "list of diablo clones"? That was my expectation, anyway. Now I want my money back.

I know of a few 'Diablo-clones' such as these:
- Kingdom Under Fire
- Shadowgrounds
- Prince of Qin
- Freedom Force (no relation to Freedom Fighters)

Never really liked Diablo or it's clones, to be honest, especially the ones I despise very much such as Shadowgrounds and Prince of Qin.

I sort of liked Prince of Qin, but it's more of a Divine Divinity type of game rather than a Diablo clone.

I recommend Titan Quest. Many classes of characters. Many items. Cool monsters. Possible black hole of time

Sierra released a mythical far east setting diablo 2 clone in 2001 called throne of darkness. It rocks. if you enjoyed the diablo games its well worth looking up. Copies can still be bought off amazon and the like.
