How do I get the final Gem (Gem of Death)?

My friend and I killed the Lich and found the gem but it is locked behind a wall with a forcefield in front of it. We have searched everywhere for switches but cannot turn off the forcefield. We can't continue the game because without getting to the gem, the shard and the portal we are basically stuck.

Although I hate to cheat, we are completely stuck. If anyone can tell us how to get to this gem through the forcefield we would greatly appreciate it!

I'm not sure, but I thought the forcefield went down after you kill the lich. I remember myself thinking "how original".

yes i just finished the game and it goes down after you kill lich.
