| | | Here at Gamebanshee people usually refer to Diablo or Dungeon Siege type of games rather than the BG or Elder scrolls-series when they speak about Action RPG:s.
Also, please spell out the whole words "for you" and not "4 u" since we have many members here who have English as 2nd or 3rd language and do not understand this type of abbreviations.
As for me, I love D2 LoD, it's only game I've ever played which I found real replay value in.

The Diablo Series was also pretty fun, but I kind of got bored of it after awhile, despite the high replay value. I also liked the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance series. With Diablo and Dark Alliance, my brother and I always played co-op, so that really helped the fun factor.

| | | I am really unsure of how one defines an "Action RPG." I suppose we're mainly talking about games that are more linear and pure hack and slash (with no pause or turned based combat) but, otherwise, still have the basic trappings of an rpg. If that's the case, I'm actually a fan of VtM: Redemption.
If we're going to basically talk about action RPGs as being simply games without turned based combat or pause in battle, VtM:Bloodlines is probably my favorite action RPG. Fable and Jade Emprie are solid as well, in that aspect. However, I'm hard pressed to call those "Action RPGs." |

| | | Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes and X-men: Legends. Diablo is fun, but I prefer action RPG on consoles.

| | | If you can only choose from action RPG-s then definately Diablo2 and LoD are my favorites. Not so many to choose from anyway...
But when it comes to just RPGs then Diablo won`t be in such a high esteem.
The first prize clearly goes to BG2 with ToB,but i use TuTu anyway and so it is all just a Big Baldurs Gate.
The second in my list would be Morrowind together with all the Elder Scrolls saga. Can`t wait for Oblivion already. Also before i forget,i think Vampire:The masquerade-Bloodlines should qualify here too.
The third place belongs to Arcanum.Surely a masterpiece for any RPG fan.
Just to make it more simple i only choosed my list from games that are in Gamebanshee.Ofcourse there aren`t many others anyway.
The fourth and final place belongs to many other games dear to me.Such as Fallout series,IWD,NVN,LoD....
All of these games are highly recomended to serious RPG masters. |

There is no other game that I have devoted 6 years of my life to playing w/out getting bored. I think part of the credit can go to the patches Blizzard continues to provide free of cost as well as the nicely developed story line.

| | Is'nt the Resident Evil series considerd to be action RPG???
that's my favourite choice by far, although KOTOR is a close second
I'm not including the Balder's gate series or NWN series as I consider them as RPG's and not action based
My best RPG's are (not in any order)
BG1-ToSc
BG2-ToB
NwN-Hordes of Underdark
Morrowwind series

| | Sorry for bumping a rather old thread. I have played some good action RPGs before like Freedom Force (always confuse this game with another game, Freedom Fighters, a 3rd-person action shooter) and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (don't know if this game is an action RPG but it does play like one, to me).
As for the worst action RPG, it's Prince of Qin. The worst I've ever played in my life.

| | | Although I spend so many hours (more like months) on D2, and actually managed to make money from that game, I'll go with Thief: Deadly Shadows... or the whole Thief Saga in general.
Garrett couldn't sound uncool... even if he tried. |

| | | Action-RPG I consider an action RPG to be any RPG that doesn’t have turn-based combat. Action RPGs allow for an offensive strategy to run away, heal and attack from a different location or draw enemies into a strategically beneficial environmental setting.
Baldur’s Gate and Elder scrolls 4 are a step up in complexity from say Champions: RTA but I still think they fit the description of an action-RPG. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
