True. It's not really an RPG but it has RPG elements. Anyone remember that old Bullfrog game Syndicate? THATS what Freedom Force is a lot like.

I saw it in the shops a coupla years ago, but i hadn't seen any reviews and i thought it looked cheesy as hell. I'm a comic book fan but at the time i was reading stuff like Judge Dredd and Sandman, and things like BIFF! and THWAK! appearing over peoples heads when you hit them just reminded me too much of the 60's Batman TV show. It wasn't until i started to get into Silver-Age comics that i gave the game a shot. Totally not dissapointed.

Custom Characters are tons of fun and add a lot to the game, but i've never seen a mod character that came even close to the calibre of those included in the game, imagination wise.

First off, sorry that I didn't comment here since its been a very long time (like 3 or 4 years) since I've touched the game. I also apologise for bumping a rather old thread.

After playing this game, I have to agree with this point. Feels more like a strategy game with RPG elements. Also seen my friend played Syndicate before there does seem to be a striking similarity.

I agree. It does suit the game very well give its comic book style design. Quite interesting game, though it did get a bit tiresome due to the fact that I have to babysit the team members. Sure the AI is okay but sometimes when they try to fend for themselves, they don't seem to use the appropriate method to do so. Yeah, it doesn't make it irritating but its slightly bothersome.

Overall, it is an interesting game nonetheless. Good plot and the comic book style really suits the whole game. Each of the characters featured have interesting personalities and backstory to them. Didn't get to try its sequel though, Freedom Force vs the Third Reich, as I already lost interest in the game after playing the first one by then.
