| Install the patches and *especially* the G3 Fixpack and then reload a save right before you exit the Underdark. I had this very same problem my first run through, and it bugged my game making it unfinishable since you need to be able to speak to Elhan. The Baldurdash fixes which are part of the G3 Fixpack prevent spawns related to the Jaheira romance in that particular area.
