| Reading this thread has actually greatly changed my opinion of the ending. I always thought it was rubbish, possibly because first time through I played DS and tended to end conversations as soon as they began by telling the person to shut up...DS 'I don't care about other people and what they have to say' type character. The end result was that I did not actually find out who I was or what was going on at all.
However, I now think the thing to remember is that this is NOT a story about 'OMG we're saving the galaxy!!!!' (which KOTOR1 was). This is a story about one person, your character and how they choose to come to terms with the aftermath of the war. I guess you could even take it further and see the 3 Sith Lords as personifications of the harm the war has done to the mind of the Exile, or of everyone who was touched by it. You have to deal with the pain, sense of betrayal and sense of pointless emptiness which anyone who fights in a war feels.
The whole point of the ending is Kreia's line: there isn't any great secret, there's just you. I think I feel a whole lot better about the game.
OK, I'm being pretentious now. I'll go away. |
