| To be honest, I'd say ANY ranged weapon NPC is useless. Ranged weapons, even with upgrades, are way inferior to melee weapons or Force powers IMHO. This applies to all the droids. Another problem with droids is that their armour is usally nowhere near as good as human armour, particularly because it can't be upgraded.
For these reasons ALL the droids seem pretty useless to me. I swap them into my parties only briefly in order to gain an influence point from them, then swap them out again. Since T3 and HK give VERY nice rewards for getting 90 influence, they do have some purpose.
