| Actually the problem was probably the Code book quest which Eydis Fire-Eye gives, it's a known Thieves guild breaker. I found that it's best to stop working for Eydis once that quest comes up, and haven't experienced any problems joining the thieves guild. You don't need her quests to get to the top of the fighter's guild anyway, so best to leave her after doing the Telvanni agents quest, if you want to join the thieves guild.
