| Did you get the key from the guy in the shop and explore the cellar below Schuyler&Sons? If you aren't any good at pick pocketing, just try anyway, if you fail he should attack you, with no bad consequences, and you can then loot the key from his corpse. Not an elegant solution admittedly, but I never found an alternative.
