| Is the file write protected ? Before editing it with Notepad, right-click the file, select properties, and make sure the check box Attributes : Read Only is unchecked.
It could also be a Windows protection thing. Which version of Windows are you using, XP or Vista ? Do you have administrator rights on your profile ? Are you using basic Windows file settings (like hiding file extensions for known types, etc.) ? Is the file located in a hidden or protected directory, such as Documents and Settings ?
If all else fails, you could try saving the file as something else. Save the file under a dummy name, rename or move the original file, move the new file into the target directory, then rename it to what the original was called. This may help you get around any file protection problems. |
