For basic questions, your best resource is the walkthrough on GameBanshee. It'll tell you all that stuff: where to get magic, all the quests involved, where to pick up every companion, etc. We reserve the forums for more difficult questions, since the site owner doesn't want to duplicate content. He says it slows the forum down if "Where can I find X?" is asked many times, when it's already in the walkthrough.
