I know, they look very much like humans (hence the near-human label). But how do the Star Wars humans consider them? Based on the biology's meaning, alien "is an organism that is not indigenous to a given location but instead has been accidentaly or deliberately introduced to a new location" (
Alien). Therefore, anything that is not natural from a human's homeworld is an alien (from a human's perspective).
