 Not a big fan of BG or BG2
Although I'm not a big fan of either BG or BG2, I can see their merit on this list. The gameplay was not what I thought it would be and frankly, it wasn't interesting to those not familiar with D&D experience. I think NWN provided a much simpler system to allow for learning this system. My wife learned to love D&D style games through NWN and now enjoys games like BG2. All this said, I am a bigger fan of KOTOR, if only because I am a Star Wars fan.
