Considering the inactivity in this thread, I guess the idea died before it even got started.
It's a pity though, BG3 truly would be a sight.. In fact, I do believe that it would be even better if it was made by fans - for fans, as the big guys only would throw in a bunch of special effects and hack and slash, which goes right home in today's youth.
Actually, when you think of it, it is possible. As I understood it, there were mainly three programmers that made Eschalon book I. Considering every volunteer that signed up here, well, we'd have a game in a few years. I'm surely interested by the way
