Yes assuming you bought the game prior to making an account it's the reg key you get with the game usually on the manual as Xandax said. If you were playing the trial and the trial ran out you'd have to upgrade and pay the fee you'd normally pay for the retail game before being able to carry on.

I bought the game when it came out and did enjoy it for a time but despite being a D&D fan it didn't keep my interest for long. LOTRO takes up my online gaming time now. Might delve back into EQ2 at some point as well.
