| Are you sure you pressed the buttons in the right order? It doesn't sound like you've actually used a moonbridge yet in your game, so you might want to activate a couple more (like the one in Fargrove) and see if you can get any destination to work for you.
If for some reason the moonbridge in the Vale of Ruin won't work for you, I know there are threads in the forum about climbing the mountains to get in. You might try searching for them.
