A couple of weeks ago, there was a
post post about exactly the same poblem. So you're not the only one. Sad but true we do not know if this problem has been fixed for the original poster.
As Aerich said, this looks like a graphics problem. First of all you should update your graphics card drivers to the newest release.
Second you should try if the game would crash in window mode too (to switch just press Alt-Enter while the game is running) and in lower screen resolutions (1024 x 768 works fine for me).
Third you should play around with the graphic options in the options menu.
