| That sounds cool, but the problem is you can only join the eastern track on one of fighter or mage. So if you are a samuraia you can't be a shugenja and vice versa.
Hatamoto/sorceror or Hatomoto/battlemage is the possibility you might want?
Samuraia/Wizard would be good. I played Marauder/Wizard and I had enough fighting to conserve spells for the optimal situation but say if I got surrounded by 20 ninjas I could just smoke them all with one blast nova since: arcane learning bonuses + spellfire = 1 shot blast nova (on typical enemies)
