| You'll get something better eventually. But your 2nd tier mage class will help much more (or heraldry even)
I'm not an expert with staves and I am not sure which ones are better. How is the staff of the Magus? If you can survive you can look for a wizard of borrowgrim and kill them for a staff of magus.. They might be north towards talendor. Beware of worms if you go through the pass and tree dudes if you go the other way.
