Question "Dishiness" Dishing it Out

Disclaimer: First of all my apologies if this topic has been covered... I thought it might have been, but my searches didn't really bring that much up.. Not to mention that my general state these days is resulting in a failing memory
Anyway, obviously please close if need be.

To topic, I was mulling over the fact that a lot of games and player-made mods encourage scantily-dressed characters. Now, I don't especially care, this thread isn't really intended as a debate on ethics, and I figure we play games to have fun, so why not enjoy them however we please.
And hey... if some 14-year-old adolescent gets excited by a bunch of half-naked pixels, well all the more power to him as far as I'm concerned.

However, I just find the concept of half-naked warriors weird. I mean, for me, at least, it tends to counter role playing.. because to my mind rushing into battle dressed in little more than a loincloth is suicidal. If you have a character such as a mage, then there's no problem; mages cast protective spells after all. But... warriors???

So, I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else here tries to avoid outfitting fighter types in gear that makes them look like models for Victoria's Secret?

As I said, this has nothing to do with prudery, just practicality
