I can't speak for anyone else here, but for me personally, my interest hasn't faded at all. It's simply a matter of real life generally taking precedence at the moment, and the fact that I'm not playing MW right now, so I'm less engaged with the game.
And as Bluesky said, it's also about waiting for the finished product
