| That's a wide-spread bug; there are numerous threads in this forum covering all possible solutions - do a search for "boat", "leopold" or "professor" and you should be pretty much covered.
Generally, I'd recommend you install the 1.2 Patch as ist prevents many crashes; there's also an excellent series of unofficial patches made by Wesp5, although those are optional, as they're mostly logical and gameplay tweaks.
Oh, and not meaning to be offensive, but... next time when you're encountering a problem (and you will, trust me on that...), please do a forum search first before opening a new thread, as most of the common bugs have been adressed in multiple threads by now. ;-)
