This is really spooky. I was just 'doing a deal' with someone on another website that if she watched a film that I recommended the I would submit myself to watching James Joyce's
The Dead. Prior to that I had been making some unfavourable comments about
Ulysses, like 'impenetrable and 'deeply depressing'. But reading this, maybe because it
is out of context, it really is beautiful. Okay, doubt will ever be a Joyce fan, but he's not as bad as I had thought.
