I feel that I'm missing something painfully obvious here. My searching of the forums has produced no results so I'm hoping one of you can direct me to a thread where this is covered.

I currently have several items (armour and weapons) that still have one or two slots open for upgrades. However, when I try to spply an upgrade I'm told I can't do this to an item that already has a base enchanment. Am I trying to apply too high level of an upgrade (this seems unlikely, as I'm working with the lower level upgrades)? Does the item's title color (yellow, blue, white) have something to do with it ((something I seem to run into with blue items)? Could it be the type of upgrade (again unlikely as I've tried every kind available at the moment in experiments).

I have checked various FAQs, including the ones at this site, and can't find any details to indicate what the rule I'm attempting to violate is. Any help or tips are appreciated.


ETA: In case anyone finds this thread because they are having the same problem, through research on other boards (Gamespot and official forums) I was able to determine that regardless of how many slots are open on a blue item, you cannot ever add more enchanments to them. They come "as is."
