The type of story in Neverwinter Nights is the same as the story in Knights of the Old Republic? I thought the story for both those games are completely different from each other.

Kind of agree. I find that the most common type of story in most RPGs and quite a number of other games are the 'Save/Destroy the world' or something along those lines. There are other cliches but this one is the most common of them all.
