| What I usually do is go to the Hobbe Cave and fight every Hobbe in that area and get my Combat Mulitplier as high as I can without any hits. If you are good at dodging and blocking, you can do this without the physical shield spell (this is very difficult, but not impossible). If your CM is really high, leave the cave. Leaving the cave cuts your CM in half, but you can build it back up with fighting the troll (and not getting hit). After fighting the troll, your CM should be 14 or higher before you talk to the door. Another alternative instead of fighting Hobbes is fighting the bandits in Darkwood.
