| What happened is that a rumour came out roughly around the same time that the development of NWN2 was announced suggesting that there would also be a BG3 at some point in time. I believe it was in one of the gaming magazines but I'm not sure.
At that time bets were on Obsidian (I think...) to be producing the game, but they later stated they had no plans to make a BG3. This is what I recall from the fuzzy depths of memory, and I'm not great with details, but it's what I vaguely remember anyway.
