| Try to check if you can manually access that file by using My Computer.
If you can't then it's definately scratched cd...
At times, the ammount of scratches doesn't mean that much as how the cd has been scratched. Couple of scratched situated in exact location may cause more harm than few other scratches...
The symptons you describe definately signs for bad cd.
