To be honest, I find Spybot to be the least effective of all the free antispyware. I've found, Ewido (now AVG), Spycatcher and even Adaware to be far superior.
Still, it never hurts to have multiple scanners since chances are that if one doesn't detect something the others will, so I keep it around for that reason.
