And what was this "best RPG experience"? Being railroaded through a plethora of fetch/kill X type of quests without any choices? The exploration which is reduced to following a compass? The riddles which are solved by journal entries? The NPC interaction which is narrowed to a comical laughably and easy to master mini-game? The linear, dull and illogical main plot? Or did you mean the character development, which isn't even needed thanks to sucking level scaling - besides being total crap? Or was it the setting, bluntly copied from Lord of the Rings, with a raped TES lore and an invasion which, oh well, doesn't really take place?
I can understand that you like Oblivion. It can be a nice action game, perhaps, although I didn't even find that part enjoyable. But saying that it provided the "best RPG experience (of) this year" (I'm sure you meant the last one, as we already have 2007) means that every other RPG that came out in 2006 would be nothing but a graphically improved Dungeon Siege cutscene. And that is not the case. In NWN 2 you can at least move your mouse.
BTW, I voted for Gothic 3. Yes, it has some bugs from which I have encountered 3 so far (mostly graphical glitches). The story is almost non-existent. Combat sucks (but is at least slightly entertaining - in contrast to combat in NWN 2). But it has a logical setting which makes sense, which is even sort of innovative as Orks aren't wild, evil beasts. It has a nice faction system, many choices and actual consequences. It's non-linear, has different endings and a relatively high replayability. Character development, although not being all that deep, is decent enough. While still being an action RPG, it's the best RPG of 2006 (I haven't played Geneforge 4 though).
