When I played through the game a second time (due to a fatal-seeming error while doing a quest for VV during my first game as a Brujah, and putting the game into cold storage for 7 months) the profiler designated me as a Malkavian. So, my first complete play through I was a stealthy, undeniably crazy Malk. I felt, however, that I was not really ever “in control” of conversations and as a result, I was pretty much forced into the independent ending, which, much to my dismay, was not a good choice for me. I felt completely vulnerable against supernaturals – so, Hallowbrook, Ming, and our favorite meatshield proved to be almost too challenging for me. I also felt like I missed a lot of plot thickening elements – like having to kill my way into the Mansion instead of manipulating people. However, the costumes, and the dementia almost made up for it.

Playing the second time through, I must admit that playing it as a Tremere feels more like home. I’ve always been more enthralled by caster classes, and I feel completely in control of her (though, I suppose in this game to say that your toon is in control of anything is kind of laughable.) I also think I enjoy this clan a lot because of how… the pyramid works. Having solidified my ties to the clan, and residing in the chantry, I am sure it will give me a new ending option, which excites me to no end.

Along with how I feel about the clan, I also enjoy the chantry much more than I enjoyed the Downtown apartment (on my Brujah) or the Santa Monica apartment (which I was stuck in on my Malk for frothing at the mouth too much). I’m superficial, I know.

I think, though, for my next play through, I am going to try Gangrel.
