Maybe they took the pictures in order to get an idea on how to design an alien (minus the Predator guy)?
Just a thought: To be honest, I'm not sure an Aliens game using the KOTOR 2 (or Neverwinter Nights 2) formulae would fit the horror theme of Aliens. The Aliens movies are very well known for the horror factor and if this RPG uses the KOTOR 2 formulae, it may take away the horror factor of the game. Perhaps this could be the reason why there are no RPGs based on the horror theme?
Perhaps Obsidian can go for a hybrid RPG like Deus Ex or the upcoming Bioshock to retain the horror feel of the game but the problem is can Obsidian do this? Well, we might just have to wait and see how this all turns out.
