Later on the core dweller will have trouble killing monsters but he is more of a tank than a guy who kills in your place so it depends what you expect from your pets. However, a dweller a liche king and an outsider (ether lord) will kill a lot of baddies but i wouldn't count on them in boss fights. (Just ternion attack him to death
