For Just a Moment

Echoes of every type bounced and whispered along the vaulted ceiling, here sounds from every source were gathered and sent here at the Altar of Ka'Ar'Resh, and it was here that a being not native knelt before the obsidian dais. His solitude was absolute, there being no one to talk to on the entirety of the planet but for the soulless diode stare of a few remaining service automata who were only concerned in his physical needs and nothing more.
How long had it been, he wondered, since the crash? Regretting the thought as the inevitable flood of unpleasant memories forced itself on his mind's eye, his imagination filled with smoke, floating body parts and various undulating masses of fluid clinging to a EVA suit visor long since shattered on an escape pod bulkhead, his wife's scream crackling over the helmet radio more real to him now than the high-pitched keen of the mating pair of amphibious avians enjoying each other's company outside of the ancient temple... his reverie breaking to find warm tears rolling down his face. Surprised at the silent sorrow, he blunk once and then twice, picking himself up at the echoing sounds of heavy metallic footsteps, his brow knitting with a frown as he mentally cursed the various pieces of implanted technology letting his teriplast servants know about his various states of being while at the same time cursing himself for succumbing to such a state counterproductive in solving the mysteries of his newly found home.

(More to come when I feel like it.)
