The gap between KOTOR 1&2 could be explained better in the next KOTOR via flashbacks or some CG scenes. That way, at least the game will not be that long.
In my opinion, since KOTOR series seem to revolve around the same story, I most probably prefer 3 sequels including the last as the final chapter of the series.
