The so called Dark Ages you mentioned ( and whereas this post is based around, North American porn)... you are aware that they are backed up by evidence right? More woman are never exposed to porn then men. Proof.

From the same link, we can come to the following conclusions:
  • Men who watch porn daily Number close the five times woman, who are at 6%.
  • Men who watch it several times a week are not included in the above, but are still included in the survey. Several times numbering from 2-6.
  • Numbers are identical for several times a month. Note that male statistics do not include several times a week or daily statistics, while this is the largest amount for woman yet. In fact, 58% of men are already tallied at multiple times a week.
  • The woman have a "twice a year" statistic. Assumptions could be based

From the same article, lines are drawn between men liking "Hard-core" far more than "Soft-core", with woman hitting almost equal.

On the fourth page, men have a higher percentage of people who say that they don't mind if their partner uses porn, whereas woman have a higher pecentage saying that they would be offended.

On the fifth page, half of men that took part in the survey (compared to the 22% from woman) said that online porn had increased their consumption. Six times as many men as woman said they spend most of their time on the internet looking for porn.

On the next page, there was a small amount of woman over men who felt guilty at varying levels.

Shall we move on to other articles.

The next article for quote above, which was also placed here.

• More men than women view pornography on the job. Nearly one-quarter of men versus 12% of women admit accessing porn sites. But of those viewing porn sites, only 16% of men and 11% of women say they did so intentionally.
Site for above article.

My point? These Dark Ages you speak of do not exist, or, if you said it in jest, I thought best that this issue between Swedish culture and North America culture be explored. Sure, more Scandanavian woman might watch porn where you are, but this does not define, in any way, how your gender roles are different. Most woman here tend to agree with woman on similar things, but this role you spoke of that is sterotyped here is actually true and backed up on fact, that men watch more porn than women. As for Doggie-Style, well, women here agree, and I'd post proof, but the site I found it on has specific techniques also being described.

Sorry if I missed the point of your post somewhere.
