| Have you ever uninstalled uncleanly? (What I mean by this is, you delete files without doing an official uninstall.) This screws things up a lot and causes many bugs. I have a tutorial on removing the files from the hard drive if you think this may be the problem.
Otherwise, I'd just uninstall and then reinstall. Sometimes and installation becomes corrupted.
Or maybe your disk is scratched or dirty? Try cleaning it. (Water only, or a cleaning solution designed specifically for disks.)
