| I took a good look at your jpeg, and this certainly looks like a bug. I can't, so far, find any specific info on it, when looking around the net. Microsoft apparently no longer supports the game, so I can't get anything from them.
I noticed mention of a bug similar to yours, where part of the world was blacked out. But the only solution was to reload, until the game loaded properly. If you have a save at around the base of the mountain, you might try just going at this again. I know this sounds very aggravating.
I believe the only patch ever made for LOA was a patch that added content. This was not a bug fix patch.
Cheating in this game is very limited. In some games, you could transport yourself into the mountain, but not in this one. There is a cheat you might try, while you've got the game loaded:
press enter, type +xrayvision, press enter
(enter -xrayvision to remove the effect)
This supposedly "removes textures," and I have no idea what it will do, but it might make something visible that wasn't before. Or it might do nothing.
Looking at your quest list, you are on track for where you are. The quests in caps cannot be completed until later.
