The piece that I had missed and that I think you are looking for is found among the "Skeletons"......
On the floor where the stairs lead to the first floor of the "Shadow Elves" and the same floor where you meet those nasty "Skeletons and their "mages" there is some sort of "lift" that leads down to another floor with skeletons.....on this floor you can find a piece to the machine.....

I have an old save an am trying it again an won't give him any of the pieces until I have all four first
