I don't remember experiencing that encounter again though, think it was in the top end of the map near Modoc or the Den.

yeah, I had that encounter once and they started shouting "We're hungry! We want food!" and they attacked me!
sure, I fried 'em all with my pulse gun (
), but my karma was around 1000 on that encounter, so I can't find an obvious reason why was I attacked...
