I had the exact same thing happen. This glitch is unbelievable. To correct my game, what I did was finished the quest all over again- it lets you take it yet again when you go outside the gate. Then instead of slow-time, I only used slow time twice and then made the trader wait in a safe area.
I went and killed all the guards, then had the trader follow me the rest of the way. Finally I got the trophy. It seems this
does not work at all if you use slow time the whole way through or try to cheat.
