For a game that has been so badly bashed, it's amazing to see all the traffic this "old" game gets on this forum!

Well, the UBISOFT site did not provide install instructions on which patches to apply and how, so I fished around forums and www.poolofradiance.com and determined I should install as follows:

- Install the game using the "1.1 install patch" (note: this spun me around a bit - it's really not a "patch" per se that you install on top of an existing installation. It's an actual installer that installs the program for the first time from the CDs! It also patches the uninstaller so it doesn't accidently wipe your hard drive! It didn't install very well though - all the shortcuts in the start menu it created were broken and had to be fixed...
- install the 1.4 patch on top of that.

I think the European version has a different patch sequence, but I'm not sure on that.

So it runs fine now. Only got laggy once when there were 8 orcs in combat. Looping crackly sound was fixed by turning basic directx sound hw accel on.

I think I found an answer to the HP at level up bug at http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/ultimat...pic/5/190.html. Apparently, if you level up while equiping any item that gives you a positive CON bonus, the number of HPs received is decreased. The reverse is true, too. Negative bonuses to your CON increase the number of HPs at level up. That's a rather crazy bug! The Constitution+1 ring is probably behind my woes. I'll take it off and see what happens! I may equip the bloodstone amulet though to ease my frustration.

The feats strangeness is still not explained though. I noticed that when I leveled up my first level cleric to MC as a paladin level 1, he didn't get the improved critical feat either. So it seesm like receiving feats is related to total character level. Should I level up the paladin once his total levels would become 3 to get the crit feat or would I get the level 3 feat on the paladin schedule (whichever that is)?

I did get my second rogue feat when I levelled using this pattern Rogue-Sorcerer-Rouge. Now I think a rougue is supposed to get a new feat everytime he levels up, so maybe that's why it worked or maybe because it was the 3rd level? I'll experiment some more tonight.

If anyone can explain how the feats are assigned to multiclassed characters, I'd very much appreciate it.

Also, if anyone knows of a place where I can find a complete bug list with workarounds, that would be ever so useful!
