Mostly Hack'n slash and a lot of interesting disciplines to smite your foes in two different timelines, which adds some Hack'n slash and Shooting too, in your ongoing quest to...different endings.

Replay value really comes from the way you build your character with disciplines, stats and humanity. Unlike Bloodlines, humanity is only affected by actions and dialogue in Redemption (can't increase it with skill points). Some of the more uh, vile disciplines requires a very low humanity rating.

The story is kept together with cutscenes and events and while there is little dialogue your choices will only affect your humanity and not the path in itself. Not unlike Deus Ex which is also considered an Action-RPG and even though you can't really stray from the path it's still quite immersive - at least once. Maybe I'm just an old romantic, but Redemption is still good to me.
