That's a good selection of perks that Fljotsdale pointed out.
Swift Learner increases the amount of XP gained (which is worthwhile taking)
If Lightning Rod does what I think it does (just a bonus to Thought-Elec.) then it may be worth leaving it until late in the game to take when putting points into skills is more expensive.
Evasion seems to go well with Unarmed too, but I've never tried that. I think perks couple those together a bit though.
Your race choice does affect dialog in the game, some merchants may not offer special stocks or characters may be more hostile. If you play Human or Demokin (with a trait that doesn't identify you as demonic) then you should get the best reaction. The game is still easily playable choosing a class which is obviously not Human though (currently I'm playing a Sylvant character).
There aren't any oriental weapons. Scimitars are probably the furthest East you'll get under that reference, although there is a Chinese merchant selling gunpowder kegs.
As for traits, generally I pick something like Good-Natured. I don't always take as many as possible though because of the disadvantages.
