| I'm playing LoA for the first time, and have just got to the Fen. If you've just arrived on the Island of Legends, you are a long way from the dig site Tom is talking about. You will go there after the city of Illicor that Najj says he'll take you to.
Don't want to spoil the story, but basically you need to get to the other side of the island, which you do by going through a number of caves. Don't know what your sense of direction is like; mine is lousy, so I had to draw diagrams of where I went in and out of caves, or I'd still be stuck in there. Start by going in from the beach, back to the main path, and head up the coastline. There is also a man on the beach north of where you meet Najj, who has a quest for you, after which he will trade with you.
