I'd have to disagree. DD is far more like Ultima VII: lots of active towns, NPCs who follow schedules and go to different places, tons of quests that can be done in a non-linear fashion, many optional quests, a completely configurable character based on skills rather than profession, etc. None of this is in Diablo 2.
