Nice poem Magrus! . I write poems aswell, although most of them are Dutch, so you probably wouldn't understand sh*t of them

Here's an english one I recently wrote. It looks like a lyric now (which it is ), but it started as a poem:

Shadow

Clouds cover the sun in my life
And in the cold nights I dream to survive
But now my dreams are grabbed by a night’s claw
See me walking between the fingers of darkness
I stop in front of a ruined wall
On it pictures of a life that’s a mess
Every photo a story, but only a moment in time
But the story is never mine

I count the empty spaces left on the shelf
And suddenly the light of a lamp post
Reflects an image of my poor self
Casting a shadow I thought was lost
Is this just another picture of me?
Just another moment in time I see?
I fear this is someone else’s shadow
Or is it a silhouette of the man I’m supposed to be?

Chorus:
Dreams of love, dreams of fate
They are in my mind and before my eyes they show
What I did wrong and I didn't know
Will they ever be mine or is it too late?

The shadow walks under a proud moon
And I follow it over an unknown street
But I know we will see the ocean soon
I can already taste the salt air, it’s so sweet
The water twinkles gold and blue
Nothing seems out of reach anymore
Running over the beach I start looking for you
My bare feet getting wet when I leave the shore

(Chorus)

I follow the black figure
Floating over the waves
The horizon comes closer and closer
I see you standing on an island
Lost in sea
Looking for me

Dreams of love, dreams of fate
Forever they are here and they will always show
Me standing at the wall with the shadow
They will never be mine, it's too late
'Cause I didn't follow the shadow
