| A thought just occurred to me. One way of acquiring ammunition for a weapon that is not currently in a merchants inventory--and this assumes that you have the weapon in your inventory--is to sell the merchant your weapon, then buy it back from them, which should allow you to immediately access ammo from the same merchant.
